When my grandmother passed away, I was struck by a sadness I didn’t know I could feel. I learned that dealing with the loss of a loved one is, without question, the hardest part of life.

As my family and I mourned and made funeral arrangements that were essentially unchanged from those my grandmother must have made for her parents, I told my friend, Geoff, that I wanted to do something more, something modern, and something powerful.

Geoff envisioned a beautiful and timeless world, teeming with life yet undisturbed by humanity. A shared world where we are symbolically surrounded by the ones we love forever.

And so, Geoff and I began to develop The Eternal Planet, a new experience that will connect friends and family across space and time in a celebration of life.

Let’s make The Eternal Planet the place to honor and remember our loved ones online together.

Join us on our journey,
Anatoly & Geoff

Do not stand at my grave and weep...

Visiting the cemetery to pay our respects can be a beautiful and solemn ritual but it can also be difficult, if not impossible, for many of us. We move away from our childhood homes, develop mental blocks about visiting that type of place or simply get too old or sick to make the trip.

In a poem about death, Mary Elizabeth Fry wrote “Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there”. That’s because our loved ones live on our hearts and in the world around us, not a grave site or in an urn. The Eternal Planet is meant to remind us of that. It is there for us anytime and anywhere we want to honor and remember them.

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die” -Thomas Campbell

It is said that our loved ones live on forever in our hearts. But, it is our memories that keep our connection to them strong. We refer to pictures, videos, and stories within The Eternal Planet as “Memories” because they act as conduits to reinforce the memory of our most precious moments.

We’ve created The Eternal Planet to provide a unique online environment to hold and recall these cherished Memories.

Dedications throughout The Eternal Planet serve as gateways to Memories and will allow you to view them from within its peaceful virtual world. Visit The Eternal Planet as often as you wish, but have peace of mind knowing that your Memories will always be there. Just like Dedications, we intend to hold Memories within The Eternal Planet forever.

"To live in hears we leave behind is not to die" - Thomas Campbell

In The Eternal Planet you’re not alone.
That is, unless you want to be.

Choose what and Who

Your Dedications and Memories can be shared with your friends, family, or the entire world depending on your preference.

Choose when

There may also be Memories that you want to share but it never seems like the right time. Memories can be kept secret and are unlocked only after your death or a specified time.

Choose how

Share your experience to connect with present, past, and future generations in a way that has not been available before.

Despite being a virtual world, the shared elements of The Eternal Planet are what make it very real in the hearts and minds of the people that choose to participate. Regardless of whether you choose to share your Dedications and Memories or not, we all share the human experience of losing a loved one, and it is our hope that The Eternal Planet will help us all cope with that experience just a little bit easier.
